Descendants of James Rickwood
1741 - 1834, of Lt. Livermere and Ampton Suffolk
Much of the original research on this family is the work of Wendy
Humpreys, although I have repeated a good deal of it. Wendy contacted
me after seeing a previous version of this website.
Three generations of this Rickwood family, James' son George, grandson
John and great grandson James married three of Robert Porter's daughters.
Wendy and I are descended from James' great grandson, who married
Martha Porter, he worked as a shoemaker. He was apprenticed in Bury St
Edmunds and lived in Bethnal Green, Halstead and Gt. Dunmow. The Porter
and Rickwood families remained connected. In Halstead, James and family
lived with his brother in law Robert Porter. James' eldest son Joseph,
worked for George Porter, his uncle, in Gt Bardfield.
James' daughter Elizabeth, Aunt Lizzie, lived with her Uncle Charles
Porter as housekeeper and inherited property in Romford from him.
