John Housden is not a direct ancestor, his gt. grandson Walter married my gt. aunt Emma Heard.
Walter Housden was British Amateur Speed Skating Champion in 1891.
Walter's brother Alfred Housden was a Sergeant in the Suffolk Regiment during the Boer War, he was wounded near Pretoria in June 1900 and died of his wounds.
